The LOUD Library
The LOUD Library (LOUD) is a creative solution and quest to reduce the wasteful cycle of product samples generated by manufacturers that typically end up in landfill. LOUD have created a circular economy enterprise that provides both physical location sampling libraries as well as a growing virtual library that contains all samples in digitalised form to help the selection of materials become easier for architectural and design communities.
By caring for the life of the product/material samples that industry will typically use in specification processes, the LOUD archive team photographs every product into a curated LOUD Library system and obtains a copy to be stored in the LOUD vault for future reference. The library documents and stores each product sample from the beginning and into their retirement. Ultimately, keeping them out of landfill and providing a valuable resource and research space for professionals in architecture, interior design, product specification and procurement.
Of particular interest to Global GreenTag International, the LOUD Library is strongly committed to building and curating a comprehensive database of sustainable product and material samples that have been independently assessed and awarded licences by third-party certification, declaration and verification bodies to meet the needs of green building and design projects.
LOUD's founder and principal, Lousie Dobson Trease, actively works as a creator on design, strategy and innovation and is passionate about making a difference through innovation, education and sustainability and helping to reduce the crisis we face in tackling landfill and waste and now has become specifically committed to rethinking the sampling of products and providing the industry she loves with the LOUD Library. The reduction of waste streams and the carbon offset resulting from the establishment of a well curated and easily accessible materials library is her dream.
The LOUD Library is a resource for membership access only. It is not a marketing agency but a service that provides archive specialists that curate a detailed library with accurate referencing to be used by building professionals and offers a range of services and package to suit individual business needs.
Effectively, the LOUD Library leaders have become a driving force in the furnishing and design industry on a global scale. They are operating across all areas of the furniture supply chain as a key voice across government, corporate and allied stakeholder groups, spanning national and global markets, contributing to worldwide consultation, collaboration and developments on behalf of all AFA Members and particularly for members in the Australasian region, providing advocacy and lobbying leadership via government and industry led networks.
The LOUD Library member services cover the needs of residential, commercial, health, education and hospitality furnishings – an industry sector that accounts for approximately 250,000 Australian jobs and contributing to thousands of jobs in upstream and downstream industries, including the retail sector, export and supply chain.
Respected and trusted as a representative, industry body, AFA is committed to supporting Australian businesses in the Furnishing supply chain who are committed to building sustainable businesses and using sustainably sourced timber products to ensure protection of the environment and share these values and commitment to the Australian economy, environment and community to the highest quality and safety standards, including use of Australia's indigenous timbers. These high standards, upheld by the AFA, lend themselves to innovative and enduring designs, which are uniquely distinct from the masses of generically produced furniture, whilst the introduction of new materials is presenting further opportunities to expand Australia's reputation for unique, safe and high-quality use of products.

Aspire
ASPIRE is an online matchmaking tool using innovative software, for material resource exchange that would otherwise be discarded into landfill, by bringing different parties together to exchange value. The Aspire Program (Advisory System for Process Innovation and Resource Exchange) tool connects resource generators with other businesses to reduce environmental impact, while building markets for unwanted resources and materials.
The tool provides information to its members in terms of total amount of waste diverted from landfills and resource availability, identifying opportunities to reduce waste disposal costs, generate new revenue streams, and reduce CO2 emissions, through connecting local businesses, improving business networking, and generating alternative supply chain pathways for resources.
Global GreenTag's cooperation with ASPIRE aims to promote sustainable design and manufacturing, and to encourage awareness of circular economy practice to help simplify the journey towards sustainability. GreenTag offers both its experience and credibility in sustainability networks and the product knowledge made available by Global GreenTag's robust product certification systems, and especially those that focus on product stewardship, resource and waste management and environmental impact.
ASPIRE's digital tool will offer Global GreenTag stakeholders the following key benefits:
Transform Waste Management and Reduce Costs: ASPIRE's base product tackles waste disposal costs and emissions, encouraging responsible resource management. Stakeholders can reduce waste disposal costs, generate revenue, and save on CO2 emissions.
Expand Global GreenTag's Sustainable Business Network: ASPIRE's digital platform enhances collaboration among businesses, fostering a community united in achieving shared sustainability goals.
Efficiently Calculate Environmental Savings: ASPIRE+ Impact Calculator measures carbon emissions savings from circular economy activities in under 5 minutes with a basic life cycle assessment (LCA) approach, that can be enhanced with EN 15804 compliant EPDs by Global GreenTag where resultant products are headed for community, building or infrastructure construction projects.
Furthermore, the ASPIRE+ calculator also provides a real opportunity for businesses to differentiate their messaging using legitimate claims backed by actual transactions on the platform and avoid any potential "greenwashing" fines from the ACCC.

Spec Up
AI is transforming the specification process. Instead of relying on traditional search terms or product categories, architects are asking questions based on use cases, project goals, and compliance needs. Our partnership with Spec Up allows GreenTag to take a focused step into the AI space for the benefit of our clients and stakeholders involved especially from the built environment industries.
Michael Smith – Architect, Director of Andever, and the Founder of Spec Up has developed an AI tool for architects and designers to connect professionals to rich product data that will enable them to more effectively, seamlessly and productively engage in product research and specification for projects – including for projects that are working with green building and design tools, which Spec Up intends to develop further to inform and help educate the built environment to the importance of product selection on projects to help accelerate sustainable outcomes within the sector.
In addition to providing this level of support for the built environment, Spec Up has been designed to benefit manufacturers who are producing products – in particular, for the Australian building industry. It is structured to directly support manufacturers across marketing, sales, content creation and product teams to develop a more informed understanding of how their products show up in architectural workflows.
The Spec Up platform gives manufacturers the opportunity to improve on how they present their products to the standards set up in the tool, which are intentionally designed to deliver product information in a nuanced way that architects understand to specify their products. This is an important value add of Spec Up, which also includes access to an experienced practicing architect to guide manufacturers to get their product information right – so they have the best chance of winning specification on a project and avoiding the loss of thousands of dollars of sales, which can happen when an architect can't find the product information they need quickly.
The Spec Up tool:
Builds on intelligence of how architects are using AI tools like ChatGPT and Spec Rep Help Desk in real projects – and develops this field of AI engagement further to bring more value to the Australian building industry.
Creates more accessible and visibly faster information content for professionals who are researching and specifying products for build projects.
Considers the four traits of content AI trusts — and guides manufacturers in how to apply them effectively to also ensure and grow the trust value of the tool within the building industry.
Incorporates the power of "AI-suggestable" functionality to keep the tool expanding and improving content results, and is developing to provide users with the emerging role of AI-trained Spec Reps.

Western Cape Government - 110% Green
www.westerncape.gov.za/110-green
110% Green is an initiative of the Western Cape Government and is a call to action to all organisations, both public and private, to (1) commit to enabling a Green Economy in the Western Cape (and beyond), (2) collaborate on taking decisive action to drive the growth of a green economy and (3) ensure positive impact on society and the environment.
The Western Cape Government's goal is to become the green economic hub of Africa and is currently the fastest growing green economy worldwide.
The Western Cape has extraordinary natural assets, expertise, design capabilities and diverse economic activity that support a pioneering role for the province as South Africa steers towards a greener growth path.
The goal comes from the need to respond to climate change, with increasing drought conditions in a region that is already water-stressed. The region is also expected to be impacted by an increase in severity and frequency of storm events, higher wind speeds and increased temperatures. The impact on the economy is predicted to be extensive across all sectors but by focussing on the green economy we can achieve the double dividend of optimising economic opportunities and enhancing our environmental performance.

Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA)
www.gbcsa.org.za/responsible-products/
Green Building Council South Africa (GBCSA) is a dynamic non-profit organisation that has been at the forefront of advancing sustainable practices in the property and construction sectors since its establishment in 2007.
The relationship that Global GreenTag Africa has with GBCSA goes back to 2009, when (under our predecessor company - Ecospecifier Global GreenTag and its leadership) was already part of GBCSA's Technical Working Group Committee to develop the Green Star Rating Tool for the Interiors Fit-Out tool.
From this point on, GreenTag helped usher in the world's first, third party, green building product rating system for South Africa under GBCSA and has since served to facilitate and promote the emergence of responsible products to support holistic green building for projects that are working with the GBCSA's building tools.
The GBCSA primary focus is on promoting sustainability through whole buildings.
GBCSA does not certify products, and Global GreenTag is now recognised as an eco-labelling Scheme.
Additionally, GBCSA also makes use of eco-labels within specific initiatives of some of the Green Star® tools.
Product assessment programs delivered under the Global GreenTag International Product Standards, which are recognised by the GBCSA include the certifications LCARate™ and GreenRate™, the Global GreenTag International Product Health Declaration (GreenTag PHD™) and the Global GreenTag International EPD™ (Environmental Product Declarations compliant with ISO 14025 and EN 15804).

Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA)
Established in 2002, the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) states its purpose to lead the sustainable transformation of the built environment.
GBCA:
- Rates the sustainability of buildings, fitouts and communities through Australia's largest national, voluntary, holistic rating system – Green Star®.
- Educates industry, government practitioners and decision-makers, and promotes green building programs, technologies, design practices and operations.
- Advocates policies and programs that support its vision and purpose.
- Collaborates with more than 650 members to support GBCA's strategic objectives.
During GBCA's formative years, Global GreenTag developed its GreenRate™ product certification program to meet GBCA's Green Star requirements, a development that extended to Green Star programs in New Zealand, South Africa and elsewhere. Since then, the GBCA under its legacy tools and more recent Responsible Products Framework now recognises a number of GreenTag certification and declaration programs, including also LCARate™, BEP PVC™ (Best Environmental Practice PVC), the Global GreenTag International PHD™ (Product Health Declaration) and HealthRATE and Asthma & Allergy Sensitive HEALTHRate schemes; and the Global GreenTag International EPD™ Program.
