Hot topics at AFISC, AFA & RMIT Forum: Show me the money!! Vapes, cocaine, crystal meth and PHAS

For those with interests in the furnishing industry, forestry, materials and manufacturing sectors, this is a forum you don't want to miss hosted by the Australian Furnishing Industry Stewardship Council (AFISC) Australian Furniture Association (AFA) and RMIT University.

Global GreenTag International is speaking at the Australian Furniture Association's (AFA) Grow. Promote. Protect Forum this month and tackling some lively panel topics with furniture industry specialists. And yes, the titles of these talks are bold but cover some relevant and important areas, especially on the role of chemicals in furniture production.

The AFISC, AFA RMIT Forum for 2026 is focused on shaping the future of Australia's furniture industry. Global GreenTag's CEO, Technical Director and Cofounder, David Baggs who is currently leading the launch of a new Recycled Content and Traceability certification, and final stage development of a Circularity Declaration will be there presenting on the following Grow. Promote. Protect. Forum panel topics:

Tuesday 24 February | 4:15pm Vapes. Cocaine. Crystal Meth. PFAS.

This session explores products and substances that are increasingly subject to regulation and enforcement. Learn the findings of an investigation into the role of chemicals in furniture, and why material choice matters—particularly when poor decisions can carry serious health, compliance, and environmental consequences.

On this panel, David will be joined by Kevin Graham (COO, Joyce Foam Products, who have a number of certifications with GreenTag) and Tony Leask (Founder & CEO, Premium Surface Protection).

Wednesday 25 February | 3:30pm Show Me the Money!!!

On this panel, David will be discussing with other speakers the question: are loyalty taxes killing businesses? The panel will review how businesses in the furniture industry can claw back money, save money and improve economic efficiencies.

Grow. Promote. Protect. Forum 2026 brings together leaders from Australia's furnishing, forestry, materials and manufacturing sectors to shape a more sustainable and resilient industry. The event is hosted by the Australian Furnishing Industry Stewardship Council, Australian Furniture Association and RMIT University, the Forum and builds on the momentum of recent Commonwealth and State-funded research projects that have identified key recommendations for industry growth over the next three to five years.

Featuring panels, discussion and networking, the two-day event will focus on short-, medium- and long-term industry needs, with a strong emphasis on sustainability, circularity and responsible growth.
