Global GreenTag International Welcomes Increase to Green Star Responsible Product Values for EPDs

Global GreenTag International today welcomes the Green Building Council of Australia's (GBCA) decision to increase the Responsible Product Value (RPV) allocation for Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) under the Responsible Products Framework across the Green Star rating tools.
The GBCA update raises the RPV value for compliant EPDs from 5 to 7, further recognising the value of independently verified, scientifically robust product transparency in delivering high-performance, low-impact and low-carbon buildings.
This is a significant acknowledgement of the role that quality EPDs play in enabling Australian and international manufacturers to demonstrate environmental performance to project teams, LCA practitioners, designers, developers and government agencies.
What the RPV Increase Means for Manufacturers
The increased RPV of EPDs under the GBCA's Responsible Products Framework reinforces that manufacturers who invest in high-quality, standard-compliant EPDs will receive greater recognition within Green Star-certified projects.
- EN 15804-compliant EPDs – widely recognised across Europe, Australia and global markets
- ISO 14025 EPDs – meeting the core global Type III environmental declaration framework
- EPDs aligned with ISO 21930 – relevant to building and construction-related materials worldwide
For many manufacturers, this RPV increase strengthens the commercial value of investing in verified environmental reporting—especially where EPDs feed directly into LCA modelling, climate-related disclosures, supply chain transparency, circularity initiatives and Nature-Positive strategies.

Our commitment to high-quality EPDs is further strengthened through our collaboration with The Evah Institute, led by Sustainability Scientist Delwyn Jones where our EPDs can also incorporate Evah's unique Benefit Addendum, which builds upon the standard EPD by applying the Institute's Life-Cycle Benefit Assessment (LCBA) framework. This interpretive layer translates raw LCA results into deeper insights—highlighting potential environmental and societal benefits such as carbon drawdown, resource circularity, biodiversity support and human-wellness contributions, where scientifically applicable.
By combining rigorous global standards, ECO Platform compliance and the added intelligence of the Benefit Addendum, we help project teams achieve greater clarity and give manufacturers a more meaningful way to demonstrate the positive contributions their products can make.
