Eco-Preferred Manufacturer Claim Verifications (McV™)

Global GreenTag's Eco-Preferred McV™ recognises products that demonstrate reduced impact on human health and the environment through transparent ingredient disclosure, credible evidence, and responsible risk management across the product lifecycle.

This pathway is designed to verify that products not only perform as intended, but are supported by clear documentation showing how risks to people and the environment are identified, assessed, and minimised.

Evidence-Led, Transparency-Driven Assessment

As part of the Eco-Preferred McV process, applicants are required to provide a structured set of evidence and declarations that enable Global GreenTag to evaluate:

• Human health and environmental risks
• Ingredient safety and chemical hazards
• Risk mitigation across manufacturing, use, and end-of-life
• Social and Environmental Compliance
• Product durability and fitness for purpose

These requirements ensure that Eco-Preferred recognition is grounded in verifiable information rather than marketing claims.

Ingredient Transparency and Toxicity Assessment (ESCAP)

A key component of Eco-Preferred McV is the assessment of ingredient toxicity and human health impact through the ESCAP process. To enable this assessment, applicants must submit:

GreenTag Ingredient Questionnaire (Mandatory)

This questionnaire captures full ingredient disclosure necessary for evaluation.

Supporting Documentation for Each Ingredient

For every listed ingredient, applicants must provide one or both of the following:

• Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and/or
• Substance Declaration

This documentation allows GreenTag assessors to determine the toxicological profile of the product ingredients and evaluate potential human health and environmental risks.

Without this information, the toxicity and risk assessment cannot be completed and the product cannot progress through the Eco-Preferred McV pathway.

Broader McV Evidence and Declaration Requirements

In addition to ingredient and toxicity information, Eco-Preferred McV applicants are required to provide:

• Declaration of Accuracy
• SKU Register
• Evidence of risk mitigation measures (e.g. EMS, OHS, labelling)
• Social and Environmental Compliance Documentation
• Evidence of product durability and relevant certifications

Together, these elements demonstrate that the product is supported by responsible practices across its lifecycle, not only at the point of formulation.
