Weathertex Natural Flatsheets & Weatherboards Achieve PLATINUM NaturePositive+ Declaration™ Rating of 153%
Landmark certification recognises Weathertex's leadership in nature-positive manufacturing, circularity, responsible sourcing and social sustainability
Brisbane, Australia — June 8, 2026
Weathertex has achieved a significant sustainability milestone, with its Natural Flatsheets & Weatherboards successfully completing the rigorous and holistic Global GreenTag NaturePositive+ Declaration™ assessment process, earning a PLATINUM NaturePositive+ Rating of 153 percent. This means the products have a 53% net positive impact on nature over their life cycle, kept in their natural state to weather.
The certification recognises Weathertex's commitment to manufacturing products that contribute to healthier environmental, social and economic outcomes through responsible resource use, circular material flows, ethical supply chain management and reduced human and ecological health impacts.
The investigation found that Weathertex Natural Flatsheets & Weatherboards:
- Uses high biogenic and recycled material content, with predominantly post-industrial recovered wood fibre, containing approximately 97% renewable/biogenic carbon-based material content.
- Features circular material management, with allocation of material flows to recycling, recovery and reuse pathways, and approximately 97% of outputs directed to recyclable, repairable, refurbishable or re-manufacturable routes, supporting end-of-life recoverability.
- Achieves reduced hazardous material intensity across the product system, with zero use of substances classified under high human health or environmental hazard categories throughout manufacturing inputs.
- Demonstrates supply chain due diligence aligned with International Labour Organization (ILO) core conventions, including modern slavery risk identification, assessment and mitigation controls across tiered supplier systems.
- Implements occupational health and safety management systems across manufacturing operations and supplier interfaces, supported by structured compliance auditing and governance mechanisms.
- Exhibits social and sustainability leadership, including participation in social benefit programs and responsible sourcing initiatives to some degree.
The GreenTag NaturePositive+ Standard™ program and NaturePositive+ Declaration™(NP+D) rep resent a world-first certification framework that assesses products against a broad spectrum of indicators spanning biodiversity, climate, circularity, human health, ethical labour supply, social impact and governance performance. Rather than focusing solely on carbon reduction, the framework places nature repair and biodiversity regeneration at the centre of product assessment and certification.
David Baggs, CEO, Technical Director and Cofounder of Global GreenTag International, said the NP+D was designed to highlight the growing role that manufacturers can play in helping restore ecological systems while delivering high-performance building products.
"Weathertex's achievement demonstrates that Nature Positive product manufacturing is not an abstract future goal but something that can be measured, verified and delivered today. The NaturePositive+Declaration assessment process examines the complete picture — biodiversity, circularity, human health, ethical sourcing, social value and environmental performance and, measures every aspect. The result achieved by Weathertex reflects a deeply integrated commitment to responsible manufacturing and continual improvement."
(Dr) Nana Bortsie-Aryee, Program Director at Global GreenTag International, said the assessment revealed strong outcomes across multiple impact categories.
"What distinguishes this result is the breadth of evidence demonstrated across the product system. The high renewable and recovered material content, strong circularity pathways, reduced hazardous material profile, modern slavery risk controls and structured governance mechanisms collectively contribute to a product system that aligns strongly with the intent of the NaturePositive+ framework. It represents a holistic sustainability achievement rather than performance in a single category."
Jason O'Hagan, Managing Director of Weathertex, said:
"This is another first for Weathertex and we're incredibly proud of it. Our Natural Range was already the first manufactured product in the world to achieve Platinum LCARate certification, and the first Australian cladding to receive Platinum PHD certification. Now we've added NaturePositive+ to that. These aren't incremental improvements – they're hard, independently verified proof that you can build a genuinely sustainable product without compromising on performance. That's always been our goal."
The certification further strengthens Weathertex's position as a manufacturer committed to responsible material stewardship and demonstrates how building products particularly bio-based, ecosystem services-based and products that exhibit strong circularity, can contribute to broader industry goals around biodiversity protection, climate and pollution reduction, resource conservation, human health and ethical supply chains.
As demand continues to grow for independently verified sustainability information within the built environment, NaturePositive+ Declarations provide architects, designers, developers, builders and procurement professionals with trusted and transparent product intelligence to support more informed specification decisions.
