United Nations One Planet program welcomes new Global GreenTag International NaturePositive+ Standard

Interest in Global GreenTag International's new NaturePositive+ Standard is gaining momentum. The technical standard has been accepted into the United Nations Environment Program's One Planet program as an official project under its SDG 12 charter to ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns for the 2030 Sustainable Development agenda.

The One Planet network is a multi-stakeholder partnership for sustainable development, generating collective impact through a global community of practitioners, policymakers and experts, including governments, businesses, civil society, academia and international organisations, to implement the 10-Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production.

The NaturePositive+ Standard is still under Stakeholder Review until February 16, says David Baggs, CEO and Program Director of Global GreenTag International who has announced that a new NaturePositive+ Declaration service will also be introduced with the Standard.

"Both are a first for the product certification field with a pathway to support the aims of SDG 12 by first closing a significant gap in meeting one of the top three aims of circular economy, i.e. providing metrics that engage nature restoration and regeneration in the Circular Economy and, providing assurance and vital information to markets about how products are not only creating circular, natural resource flows but also how their design is helping to restore biodiversity and can assist in regenerating the climate and ecosystems."

The overarching framework and metric of the NaturePositive+ Standard, adds David, is calibrated against planetary boundaries, important for both advanced manufacturers and projects, especially in the built environment that are extending the boundaries of circularity design.

"We are receiving very good feedback in the Stakeholder review phase of the Standard and look forwards to sharing the high points of the development of the Standard in coming weeks."

Mary-Lou Kelly, Managing Director of Global GreenTag International who has worked alongside David to bring forth the new Standard, is very pleased that the UNEP One Planet program has accepted Global GreenTag's new NaturePositive+ Standard as an official project, adding:

'This is a Standard that directly supports the Rights of Nature head on, so that we can provide the international and Australia markets with a solution that is focused on changing real world outcomes towards Nature Positive."
