John Kalungi Kabuye is renowned for being a passionate advocate, leader and catalyst for helping to green the built environment in Kenya. The Founder and Chief Technical Consultant for the BESIC Group (a built environment surveying and infrastructure consultancy based in Nairobi) John served for a number of years with the Kenya Green Building Society (KGBS) as Vice Chairperson and CEO where he was instrumental in shaping the organization's progress from a prospective member of the World Green Building Council (WBGC) to an established Chapter under the WBGC.

John also saw a need to empower East Africa's green product manufacturers and bring into Kenya a product certification system that would help serve the expanding local green building market and meet the needs of manufacturers to substantiate their green product claims to enter green projects and take their products out to the world.

The BESIC Group decided to partner with Global GreenTag International and make available the Global GreenTag Product Certification System to help lift up Kenya's best in green product manufacturing and meet the demands of eco-and health conscious consumers, companies, projects and countries looking for green and ethical products.

John is a LEED Green Associate with the US Green Building Council, an EcoDistricts Accredited Professional and Envision Sustainability Professional with over 17 years of experience, providing strategic sustainability consulting and technical assistance throughout East Africa. He has worked with governments, counties, property owners, developers, corporations, associations and cultural institutions. Most recently, John was the technical consultant for ESG Asset rating of real estate for Acorn Holdings Africa, the issuer of Kenya's first green bond.
